It seems what silly that I cannot edit and save legacy SSRS reports with the latest version (which is still labelled as Report Builder 3). Report Builder is changing various XML tags in the RDL which my older 2012 report server cannot handle. This seems to be a common error from my googling. The definition of this report is not valid or supported by this version of Reporting Services". I receive an error, "Failed to save report. I ran Report Builder from my desktop icon (installed binary Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\Report Builder\MSReportBuilder.exe), opened the report on the legal SSRS 2012 system, Had a request to modify a report from the legacy system. Installed the latest version of SQL Server Report Builder available here: Recently upgraded my development machine to SQL Server 2016 Developer for compatibility with a new system we are working to deploy at the end of the month. Have an existing legacy SSRS 2012 server with numerous reports deployed. ![]()
